Behavioural Profiler and Trainer in Behaviour Analysis; Director, Institute of Nonverbal Communication; Consultant, UNOCT International Hub on Behavioural Insights to Counter Terrorism
Diana Nowek-Lubandy is a behavioural profiler and a researcher investigating behaviour recognition and credibility through technology and AI. Since 2016 she has been a Director of the Institute of Nonverbal Communication and Academy of Behavioural Profiling for law enforcement. She conducts biosensors research and provides forensic expertise on witnesses’ credibility for courts and law firms.
As a strategic advisor and trainer on behavioural analysis, she has worked for both the European Coast Guard Agency and the International Organization of Migration. She has trained police officers and border guards from all European countries and other regions. In cooperation with the European Agency, Diana developed and conducted specialised train-the-trainer programmes on predictive profiling. She is also a co-author of courses on the detection of dangerous behaviours and victims at airports and border crossing points and author of the ‘Manual for Border-related Behaviour Recognition’.
She is currently working for the UNOCT International Hub on Behavioural Insights to Counter Terrorism as Behavioural Insights Advisor and is an expert trainer for the Behavioural Insights Academy in Doha.
Diana Nowek studied international relations (Warsaw University), political science (Freie Universitaet Berlin), and psychology (Warsaw University of Social Sciences and Humanities), and is a PhD candidate working on her thesis in forensic linguistics.
Born in Poland, currently lives in Austria, Styria with her family.

- Since 2025 – Expert trainer for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime – AIRCOP Programme in Middle East
- Since 2022 – strategic advisor to the UN Counter-Terrorism Office in the area of behavioural analysis, behavioural prediction, use of behavioural technology to counter terrorism.
- Since 2022 – trainer of the Behavioural Insights Academy on behalf of the International Hub on Behavioural Insights to Counter Terrorism at the UN based in Doha, Qatar.
- Since 2018 – trainer of the European Predictive border profiling and lie detection specialists course for the border services of the EU agency Frontex (European Border and Coast Guard Agency).
- Since 2018 – co-author of training courses on detecting threat behaviour at airports and border crossings, author of the manual “Manual for border related behaviour recognition”.
- Since 2019 – in cooperation with the European Asylum Support Office (EASO), the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) leading a series of “European Course for Advanced Profiles Trainers” in the Balkans and Turkey.
- In November 2022 – speaker on the future of behavioural technologies at UN Headquarters in New York.
- In October 2022 – speaker on the use of behavioural technologies for border protection at the UN conference in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
- In March 2023 – moderator and co-presenter of the international Behavioural Analysis Conference at Prague Airport.
- Since 2020 – member of the International Association of Behavioural Detection and Analysis.

- Due to the specificity of the line of business I work in, I systematically verify whether my training programs are effective and if they bring measurable results to the participants.
- I make sure that all the programs, coursebooks, and matrices of behavioral indicators are customized to the needs of organizations and clients.
- Owing to the training courses implemented at EU airports, guards and investigators have improved their detention rates regarding non-Schengen smuggling by 20% on average.
